In 1988, the atypical film director David Lynch was asked by the popular French magazine Le Figaro to create a short film as part of a series called "Les français vus par..." (The French as seen by...).The result is a hilarious and completely surrealist little film, featuring Harry Dean Stanton, Jack Nance, and the French artist Frederic Golchan.Watch it here.Also, here is an interview of David Lynch and his relation to France.
