You probably already know how to say "Thank you" in Japanese, which is ありがとうございます Arigatou gozaimasu. But sometimes, you may want to say a little more to show your gratitude. So here are some phrases to help you to be a little more specific.

いつもありがとうございます。
Itsumo arigatou gozaimasu.
"Thank you always."

素敵なプレゼントをありがとうござい{ます/ました}。
Sutekina purezento o arigatou gozai{masu/mashita}.
"Thank you for the wonderful gift."

So, the formula for saying

"Thank you for [NOUN]."

is

[NOUN] を ありがとうござい{ます/ました}。
[NOUN] o arigatou gozai{masu/mashita}.

Use the present tense ありがとうございます arigatou gozaimasu when you thank someone immdediately after you receive the favor; use the past tense ありがとうございました arigatou gozaimashita when you thank someone after some time has passed.

Using the formula, you can say things such as

ワインをありがとうござい{ます/ました}。
Wain o arigatou gozai{masu/mashita}.
"Thank you for the wine."

かわいいカードをありがとうござい{ます/ました}。
Kawaii kaado o arigatou gozai{masu/mashita}.

Oishii shokuji o arigatou gozai{masu/mashita}.

When you thank someone for a delicious meal, use the past tense after you finish eating the meal; use the present tense before you finish the meal.
