Apologies and Polite Requests

Let’s dissect some of the phrases you’ve learned.

When apologizing, you can use duìbùqǐ 对不起 (I am sorry) for any occasion. After you get someone’s attention, you can go on to explain exactly what you need if you have to with one of the following expressions.

Qǐng ràng yī xià?
请让一下

May I trouble you?
Dǎrǎo yī xià?

May I ask you a question?
